Well we are home, and Josiah is resting! They prescribed him a second seizure medication called Oxycarbazepine. He’ll be taking this along with the Keppra that he’s been taking. His neurosurgeon Dr. Robinson came in this morning to talk to us, and he doesn’t think the seizure was caused by swelling because his CT scan looked relatively normal. I asked him what he think caused it, and he basically explained that his brain is just always going to be susceptible to seizures due to the abnormalities in his left temporal lobe. Even though they removed 85% of the tumor, there is cancer still in there, and his seizures can just get randomly set off. They’re continuing to wean him off the steroid he’s been on. He’s very tired still which is normal for his post-ictal state that comes after the seizure. Since his seizure was so long, the fatigue will last a while. While my parents were watching our dog Honey, she actually had a seizure today. (She’s been diagnosed epileptic for a year.) So Josiah is resting alongside Honey since they’re both very tired. Thank you for the prayers!
Will continue to pray for Josiah and your family.
Bless your hearts. I know you are so happy to be home. Praying for God's grace and mercy as you deal with everything associated with all this. I hope and pray the new medicine works well.
Love, Aunt Melanie
Sooooo thankful you are both home!
