Today’s the start day of the clinical trial drug AZD 9574! After tons and tons of preliminary tests for Josiah, he is cleared to start. His MRI came back with a little growth on the piece of tumor they had to leave behind. It grew about 2mm in 26 days, and it is about the size of an almond now. We’re glad the trial is starting now to knock this nasty cancer out. The trial requires a ton of nonstop appointments, bloodwork, and EKGs to monitor how he does on this drug before they pair it with the Temodar chemo. They even gave us a phone we have to keep during the trial for questionnaires to answer on how he is consistently feeling. There’s a ton of daily paperwork we have to log too. I’m glad they’re being very thorough, as it’s a phase 1 trial. Three phases of trials have to be completed before something can potentially be FDA cleared. Since this is only phase 1, it has only shown promise on mice, rats, and monkeys. So sad, but at the end of the day I’m thankful it’s at least been tested thay way to keep Josiah safe. Please pray he has no negative side effects on the trial drug and that it does what it needs to do! We want this cancer GONE!
UPDATE: They put us in a hospital room and we have to be here 8 hours. They’re putting an IV in him. He has to get 5 EKGs and 9 blood draws over the 8 hours after taking the trial drug.
So thankful he has started the trial and you’re on your way to take this head on…AGAIN! We love you both and are continuing to keep you in our prayers and thoughts every day. ♥️♥️
