Hi guys! Today we met with Dr. Volas-redd, the neuro-oncologist. They’re located at the Georgia Cancer Specialists in Marietta, associated with Northside. Dr. Volas-redd is really great! She prescribed him chemotherapy pills, Temodar, and two anti-nausea medications that they said he will for sure need. He is also going to participate in a promising clinical trial where he will be taking Ramipril, a blood pressure medication, that is researched to prevent memory loss and decreased cognitive ability. With his specific type of Glioblastoma, the chemo, and radiation, it can sometimes cause people to have memory loss and lose cognitive abilities, so any promising medication that can combat this is great. They said there are no negative risks associated with it, only positive or nothing at all. We met with a nutritionist who is putting him on a very strict keto nutrition plan. I will be doing it with him to keep him motivated, and so we will be eating the same things! They took blood, and said they will get back to us shortly with where to pick up the chemotherapy drug because apparently you can’t just get it at a pharmacy. We spent 3 1/2 hours in total at the Georgia Cancer Specialist Office so we’re pretty tired and overwhelmed with info! Continued prayers are appreciated 😊
You both along with the family, doctors, nurses and all involved, are in my thoughts and prayers.
Thanks for keeping us updated. It seems like you have a great Dr. The clinical trial sounds good. I'm sure it will help. Many prayers are being lifted up to our heavenly Father on your behalf. Love, Aunt Melanie
Thanks for the update and everything else!! Love you two and praying daily for your recovery!!!
